Features
- In 2002, photographers and tourists were not allowed in the cultural center in Havana where the National Ballet of Cuba practices and performs. Still, American documentary photographer Lauren Graves was given special permission to photograph the excellence, discipline and beauty that flourishes throughout the National Ballet of Cuba -- under the conditions that she use no flash or tripod. The effect of these terms defines this stunning and haunting series, called Behind the Scenes of the National Ballet of Cuba. In this image, the dilapidated conditions this world-famous ballet company practices in, is evident, yet the dancer overcomes the conditions to create her own special beauty. 13" x 19" Giclee print.
